Why won't my computer detect my monitor?

Its a dell monitor. Has the blue plug and play connector. When I turn on my computer nil shows up, and I don't hear that beep.

all right im not sure..did u try to restore it?
Is the power cord plugged in? Are you sure this is a set good monitor? Tighten your connections :)
I hold saw this before, and it's usually on 98 not XP.

If it is on XP it's a monitor that wishes to get replaced.
