Why is a monitor size measured diagonally within INCHES?

Answer:

Because something English have to survive !
it has to be measured within something, and inches are pretty much universal - diagonally for simplicity.
because it make it sounds like it's larger than it if truth be told is.
Mine are so big I measure them within feet.
because it's easier that agency. you'd have too big a number if you did it surrounded by millimeters or centimeters.and too small a number if you did it in foot. inches just works
because if it be measured horizontally or vertically it wouldnt be clear on all the measurements so they would own to write both

so i guess its easier diagonally

and inches because its the only approiate one, because meters are too big and centimeters are too small
Because explicitly the way that TVs are (and used to be) measured.

Before that TVs be measured by the CRT diagonal size in inches.

Originally TV tubes be pretty much round so the diagonal used to be the diameter. Probably inches because TVs first were popular within the US.
because it is!

carried on from the way tv be measured - why does it matter?
