Why do i enjoy purple, washed out, green and red lines running up and down on my computer blind?

Before you replace the expensive items, try a different VGA cable (15pin-15pin) first that connects your computer to the monitor. The pins are not incredibly sturdy and if one gets tatty it can ruin the whole picture. If your monitor is elder and the cable is built in, you might want to hook up another monitor to your computer to make sure it is the monitor.
I don`t know your video card is going bad... or even your monitor??
